The next step is removing the screen, for which you must first apply some heat to loosen the adhesive. We found that if you focus mainly on the side opposite the Fitbit logo and get under there with a thin pry tool, heat up the sides of the screen before pinning it away from the device and removing the screen by pinning it at the end opposite the Fitbit logo, being careful not to damage the ribbons that connect the screen to the board.
Next is to remove the battery, which simply pulls off, and then you can remove the shield underneath by removing its three screws. You’ll see the two ribbons from the screen attached to your board, which you can gently pry up. The other two ribbons belong to the vibrator and the charging function. So just leave those alone and reattach your new board to the same two ribbon holders as your old screen.
From there, you can reverse the process by reinserting the shield with its three screws and then reinserting the battery before closing your Fitbit device. Apply some glue around the edge of the housing where the screen will sit; we’ve only ever used this T8000 glue. So we wouldn’t recommend using anything else, and it works really well when you close the Fitbit. There will most likely be some glue escaping, which you can simply wipe clean before securing your screen with an elastic band or vice.
Then we let it sit for 24 hours, and that’s when the Fitbit Charge 3 screen repairs were completed.
